Apply In-Person:
- To apply for transferring an Animal Identification mark in person, the applicant has to visit the office of Registrar of Animal Identification.
- The address and contact details of the Registrar office of Animal Identification can be found in the following link: Link
- Visit the office of the Animal Identification Registrar and get the Application for transfer of registration of an identification mark form as applicable, from the relevant department.
- Make sure that you have all the documents listed in the “Required documents” section of this page.
- Complete the form as required with relevant details under respective sections. After completing the application form, attest it and attach the required documents with the completed form.
- Then, proceed to submit the package to the Registrar of Animal Identification at the office in person for further processes. Make the necessary payment as directed.
- The application can also be submitted through post to the postal address of the office of the Animal Identification Registrar.
- After submission, the application form and attached documents will be forwarded to relevant authorities for the further processes.
- After all the processes have got completed, the concerned authorities in the office will make necessary actions for the transfer process.

Eligibility
- Any person, who is going to become the new owner of the concerned livestock/animal, can apply for an identification mark transfer.
- In the case of the death of the legal owner, the new owner becomes eligible only after certain legal processes have been performed at the court.
Fees
It costs R160.00 per application.

Instructions
- The Application for registration of an identification mark can also be obtained from extension officers, magistrates’ offices, and stock-theft units of the South African Police Services or from the Registrar of Animal Identification in Pretoria.
- Part 2 of the application form must be completed by the applicant or (in the case of death) by the executor of the estate. If there is no executor, a copy of the death certificate and “Letters of Authority” should be attached.
- The application form should be completed with details with absolute legibility and appropriateness in order to avoid rejections by the Registrar.
- The bank account details in which the required fees should be deposited can be obtained from the office.

Need for the Document
An animal identification mark can be transferred from one livestock owner to another. To do so, the new owner must apply for the transfer of an animal identification mark at the Department of Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development.
