South Africa - To Apply for a Police Fingerprint Clearance

Apply In-Person:

  1. To apply for a Police Fingerprint Clearance in person, the applicant has to visit the office of South African Police Service or any nearest Police station.
  2. Contacts and Address information can be found in the link given below: Link Click on your province name in the map displayed to get contact details of the police stations in your province.
  3. Visit the office of SAPS or any nearest police station and get the application form for Police Fingerprint Clearance, from the respective department.
  4. The application form can also be downloaded by clicking the following link: Link
  5. Fill the application as required with all the relevant details in the relevant sections for obtaining a Police Fingerprint Clearance.
  6. Also pay the prompted fees as directed and attach all the documents with the completed form that is listed in the “Required documents” section of this page.
  7. The application form and attached documents should be submitted at the office of South African Police Service or any nearest Police station.
  8. After all the processes got over, the applicant will be issued with the Police Fingerprint Clearance Certificate.

  • Certified copy of the Identity document/passport
  • Certified copy of any certificate bearing full name (in case if surname is needed to be mentioned in PCC)
  • Proof of payment

  • Any South African citizen or a permanent resident, who wants to apply for a Police Fingerprint Clearance Certificate, can apply.
  • The applicant should possess a valid Identity document or Passport.

Persons living outside South Africa may apply at the any police station in that country or at the South African Embassy. Fingerprints must be taken on the official fingerprint forms of the applicable country or, if available, on the SAPS 91(a) fingerprint enquiry form.
