Apply In-Person
- To apply for reserving Special Registration Marks of Aircraft in person, the applicant has to visit the office of the South African Civil Aviations Authority.
- The address and contact details of the South African Civil Aviations Authority can be found in the following link: Link
- Visit the office and obtain an Application for reservation of special registration marks as required from the relevant department. Or click here to download: Link
- Make sure that you have all the documents listed in the “Required documents” section of this page.
- Now, complete the application form with appropriate information under relevant sections. Attest it with your signature once completed.
- Then, pay the applicable fees as directed to the relevant bank account. Find the information regarding payment in the office website or contact the office.
- After paying the fees, attach all the required documents with the completed application and submit it to the relevant official at the office.
- Then, the application will be forwarded to the concerned authorities for further verification processes.
- Once the verification and validation processes are over, the application will be approved and the officials will proceed to take required steps to allocate and issue the Registration mark.
- When the Registration mark is ready to be collected, the applicant will be sent an SMS from the office and the applicant can collect it by themselves or arrange a courier service for collection.

- To apply for reserving Special Registration Marks of Aircraft in person, the applicant must apply through a registered mail at the office of the South African Civil Aviations Authority.

- Make sure that you have all the documents listed in the “Required documents” section of this page.
- Now, complete the application form with appropriate information under relevant sections. Attest it with your signature once completed.
- Then, pay the applicable fees as directed to the relevant bank account. Find the information regarding payment in the office website or contact the office.
- After paying the fees, attach all the required documents with the completed application and submit it to the relevant official at the office through a registered mail of your choice.
- Then, the application will be forwarded to the concerned authorities for further verification processes.

Eligibility
- Any individual, who has an aircraft registration in his /her possession and wants to obtain a Special Registration Mark, can apply.
- A company, close corporation, trust or any other business entity is also eligible to apply.
Fees
- Reservation of Special Registration Mark on an Air Craft: R2000.00
Validity
- The approval for reservation is valid only for a period of twelve months.

- The applicant must ensure all the information sought in the application has been provided properly and all the attached documents are appropriately furnished in order to avoid rejections.

Need for the Document
- After registration, it is necessary for an aircraft to be allocated a Registration and a Nationality Mark by the Director of Civil Aviation, for the purpose of identification.
