South Africa - Registration of Milk Replacers


Procedure

Apply In-Person:

  1. For the Registration of Milk Replacers, the applicant must go to the Department of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries Office in South Africa Contact Link
  2. The application form must be obtained from the authorities in the DAFF office, or else it can be downloaded from the official website Application Form Link
  3. Apart from the application form, the applicant should also write the cover letter stating the reason, written permission letter (if the product is owned by the 3rd person than the applicant).
  4. Make sure that you have all the documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  5. The application form must be filled with necessary details, and should also be signed by a Commissioner of Oaths.
  6. Then the applicant must pay the application fee of R 1450.00 per application/product in the desired payment mode.
  7. For complete fee structure of this procedure, refer to the “Fees” section of this page.
  8. Now, the application form along with the required documents and the proof of payment, must be submitted to the Registrar in the DAFF office.
  9. After submitting the application, it will take a minimum of 4 months (120 days) for verification and analysation product.
  10. If every document and the product is testing is perfect, then the registration certificate will be issued to the applicant signed and declared in front of the Justice of The Peace/Commissioner of Oaths.


Note:
  • Before submitting the application for registration, the product must be sent to laboratory for analysation according to the requirements set by the testing committee.
  • If the applicant is posting the application form to the DAFF office, then the fee payment must be made in the form of Bank Cheque or through Electronic Fund Transfer (EFT) in favour of “Director-General: Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries”
  • If you are paying your fee through an Electronic Transfer Account, you must pay it into the following account:

    • Reference: 11FF1 and the company name

  • Label art-work or final packaging.

  • Exporter proof of compliance with Competent Authority in country of origin.
  • Application form completed properly and signed by commissioner of oath and applicant.

Eligibility

Only South African residents or employees of a business that has a South African office and address are eligible to apply for the Registration of Milk Replacers application.


Fees

  • The application/product fee for the Milk Replacers Registration is R 1450.00.
  • Renewal Fee is R 550.00 per application/product.

Validity

  • The validity of the registration is valid for three years (3).
  • After the expiry date, the registration must be renewed or else the applicant must reapply for the registration.
