Apply In-Person:

1. To apply for obtaining Special Power Of Attorney in person, the applicant has to visit the nearest branch of the South African Revenue Service office.

3. Visit the nearest SARS branch and obtain an SPPOA - Special Power of Attorney form from the relevant department. Or click here to download: Link
4. Make sure that you have all the documents listed in the “Required documents” section of this page.
5. Complete the form as required with relevant details under respective sections. After completing the application form, attach the required documents with the completed form.
6. Then, proceed to submit the application package to the relevant authority at the office in person for further processes. Make the necessary payment as directed (if any).
7. After submission, the completed form and corresponding documents will be put into further verification and validation processes.
8. Once all the processes got completed, the authorities will perform necessary actions for the Power of Attorney grant process as per the applicant’s request.

• Special Power of Attorney forms presented to the SARS branches should be original documents, with the exception of overseas taxpayers.

• These forms must be presented within its validity period, which could be anything between one month and 24 months, containing the required information and duly signed by the person transferring his/her authority to someone else to act on his/her behalf.
