- To Obtain Establishment of a Personalised Registration Number System, the applicant must go to the Transport Department office in South Africa. Contact Link
- The application form must be obtained from the authorities at the Registering office.
- Make sure that you have all the documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
- The application form must be filled with necessary details, and along with the required documents should be submitted to the respective registering officer at the Transport department.
- After that the application will be verified by the officials, and if the details provided and the supporting documents submitted are legitimate, then the Personalised Registration Number Plate will be approved by the officials. (If the provided number is available)
- The fee for each province varies. Therefore, the fee details will be given by the local registering authorities at the Transport Department office.
- The application for personalised registration number system will be processed on the same day of filing the application. (Provided the applicant has all the supporting documents)
- Note: The personalised number should not be more than 7 characters excluding the provincial mark.
Required Documents
- Application form.
- A certified copy of your identity document.
- A vehicle registration certificate.
- Proof of presidential address e.g., utility account. If the utility bill is not in your name, the owner of the bill must make an affidavit declaring that you live at the address and the utility bill must be attached to the affidavit.
- If you stay at an informal settlement, you must bring a letter with an official date stamp from the ward councillor confirming your residential address.
- Payment Receipt.

Fees
- The fee for each province varies. Therefore, the fee details will be given by the local registering authorities at the Transport Department office.
Validity
- The personalised vehicle registration number plate is valid until the vehicle registration certificate is valid.
