Apply In-Person:

1. To get Special Pension, the applicant must go to the Department of Government Pensions Administration Agency’s (GPAA) office. Contact Link
2. The applicant must submit a written a request letter with all the necessary details to the respective authorities at the GPAA department.
3. Make sure that you have all the documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
4. The written application form along with the required documents should be submitted to the respective authorities at the GPAA department.
5. Then the application form will be verified by the Special Pensions Adjudication and Special Pensions Appeals Board. If the details are legitimate, then the Special Pension will be sanctioned and issued to the deserving applicant.
6. The fee details and the processing time will be intimated to the applicant at the GPAA office while submitting the application.

• The document will help in getting the Special Pension for the individuals who fought for the democratic South Africa.

• Special Pensions are non-contributory benefits, paid for by National Treasury and administered by the GPAA, that are paid to deserving applicants.
