- To How Become a South Africa Police Reservist, the applicant has to approach the SOUTH AFRICAN POLICE SERVICE link
- An application form will be provided to the applicant by the concerned officer.
- The applicant has to fill in all the necessary details in the application form. (Incomplete applications are not accepted)
- Make sure that the applicant has attached all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
- The applicant has to attach photocopies of the required documents along with the application form while submitting it.
- Submit all the documents with the completed form to the concerned officer.
- The applicant has to pay the prescribed fee as requested by the authority.
- After receiving the application, the concerned authority will check the submitted application and document set. If all are in place, the application will be accepted.
- Then the application will be processed further.
- Once the process gets completed, the applicant gets a call from the office regarding the application.
- The applicant will be invited to complete a fitness assessment. This will include tests to evaluate physical fitness, such as running, push-ups, and sit-ups.
- The applicant will need to complete training before they can start working. The training will cover topics such as criminal law, firearm handling, and self-defense.
- Once the applicant has completed his/her training, the applicant will be assigned to a local police station or unit. As a SAPR, you will work voluntarily and will assist the SAPS with various duties, such as crime prevention, crowd control, and crime scene management.
- This entire process can be completed within 1 – 2 months or as per the timeline advised by the respective department authority.

Eligibility
- Be a South African citizen or permanent resident
- Be at least 20 years old and not older than 50 years old
- Be physically and mentally fit
- Have no criminal record
- Have a minimum of Grade 10 (Standard 8) qualification
- Be willing to undergo training and work voluntarily.
