Apply In-Person:

1. To Apply for Replacement Certificate (Change of Status), the applicant must go to the Department of Basic Education or to the nearest district office Contact Link
2. The application form must be obtained from the authorities in the DBE office, or else it should be downloaded from the website Application Form Link
3. Make sure that you have all the documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
4. The application form must be filled with the necessary details.
5. The application form along with the required documents must be submitted to the Department of Education, Examinations & Assessment department officials.
6. After verifying the details, the required status changes will be made and the senior certificate will be replaced with a new certificate and then it will be issued to the applicant.
7. The re-issue of the senior certificate application fee is R 130.00.
8. The processing time to issue the replacement certificate will take a minimum of 3 months duration from the date of submitting the application.
   

Note: In case of emergencies, the applicant can apply for Confirmation Letter while waiting for the Replacement Certificate Confirmation Letter link

• If the applicant wants to replace the senior certificate with the status change in the Senior certificate, the required changes must be made by applying to the DBE officials.
• Therefore, the senior certificate will be replaced with a new certificate.
