Apply via Agent
Apply In-Person:
- To Apply for Grading Support Initiative, the applicant has to approach the South African Revenue Department link
- An application form will be provided to the applicant by the concerned officer.
- The applicant has to fill in all the necessary details in the application form. (Incomplete applications are not accepted)
- Make sure that the applicant has attached all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
- The applicant has to attach the photocopies of the required documents along with the application form while submitting.
- Submit all the documents with the completed form to the concerned officer.
- The applicant has to pay the prescribed fee as requested by the authority.
- After receiving the application, the concerned authority will check the submitted application and document set. If all are in place, the application will be accepted.
- An acknowledgment receipt will be provided. Please save it for future reference.
- Then the application will be processed further.
- Once the process gets completed, the applicant gets a call from the office regarding the application.
- The applicant will be invited to participate in the program. The GSI team will also provide the with a grading report, which will identify any quality issues with your product and suggest ways to improve it.
- The applicant will receive support in implementing the recommendations in the grading report.
- This may include training on best practices, access to equipment or inputs, and assistance in accessing higher-value markets.
- This entire process can be completed within 15 – 25 days or as per the timeline advised by the respective department authority.

- The applicant must be a smallholder farmer or agribusiness with an annual turnover of less than R50 million. The applicant must also be registered with the South African Revenue Service (SARS) and have a valid tax clearance certificate.
