1. To apply for a temporary residence permit, you will need to submit an application to the nearest diplomatic representation or Consulate of Republic of Slovenia. Use the contact information provided under the "Office Locations & Contacts" to get in touch with the Embassy. You may also try and check if the embassy has a website, application forms or checklist of required documents may be available on their website.
2. Once you have submitted your application, the embassy's consular service section will forward your application to the competent administrative unit in the Republic of Slovenia.
3. After your application is approved, your temporary residence permit will be issued and sent to the diplomatic mission or Consulate of the Republic of Slovenia where you submitted your documents.

• a valid passport, the validity of which is at least three months longer than the intended residence in the Republic of Slovenia
• adequate health insurance covering at least emergency health services in the Republic of Slovenia
• sufficient means of subsistence, per month at least equal to the minimum income in the Republic of Slovenia
• a certificate of impunity, not older than three months, translated into Slovenian and certified
• a photo that shows your true image

Note: In addition to the above evidence, you must also attach proof of eligibility as regards the purpose and the reason for which you ask for a residence permit, for example. proof of admission to a school in Slovenia, if you ask for the issuance of a temporary residence permit for study purposes.

Those who are wishing to enter the Republic of Slovenia and reside in it for a long time as possible on the basis of a valid passport or a valid identity card, or a visa, will need to obtain a residence permit.
