Singapore - Single Status Certificate Marital Status Search

Paid search

  1. To Single Status Certificate / Marital Status Search the applicant has to use the following link
  2. Applicant has to read the rules and regulations and click the “Agree” button.
  3. Applicant has to enter all the necessary details and click the “Submit” button.
  4. A fee for this procedure is S$35
  5. If the result is "No record is found", that means that there is no record of marriage found matching the information entered and does not mean that a person is unmarried. He/she may already be married under the laws of another country. Marriages performed abroad are not captured in Register of Civil marriages.
  6. If the result is "Record is found", that means that a record of marriage matching the information you entered has been found.
  7. The application will be processed on the following working day. If you chose "self-collect" as your mode of collection, the result will be ready for collection at ROM between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. the next working day. If you chose "by post", the expected delivery is about 7 days for local addresses and about 2 to 3 weeks for overseas addresses.


Note: The applicant is required to print a copy of Receipt & Instructions at the end of the transaction.

  • The Singapore Registry of Marriages (ROM) does not issue a Certificate of No Impediment. However, a person can apply in writing directly to the ROM and obtain a Marital Status Search Results.

Need for the Document

  • A Single Status Certificate also referred to as a No Marriage Affidavit, Certificate of Freedom to Marry or Certificate of No Impediment, is a sworn statement saying that you are eligible to marry.
  • Overseas marriage authorities often require further evidence that the party is free to marry. Such evidence may be a statement from the Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages that there is no record of the person having been previously married or a 'Single Status Certificate' or 'No Records Result'.

  • The service provides for search on Civil Marriages solemnized in Singapore only, and from 15 September 1961.
  • When conducting a search by name, a missing character, misspelling, blank space, dash, other punctuation, re-arrangement of words or any inaccuracy might result to no record being found.
  • The search outcome will yield only data recorded for a marriage registered with ROM, Singapore.
  • A fee is payable, regardless of whether the search shows a marriage record or not.
