Under this scheme, financial assistance is provided to severe and multi-disabled persons who are living below poverty line.

central government scheme - Indira Gandhi National Disability Pension Scheme

1. To apply for this scheme, the eligible person has to submit two copies of duly filled application form along with required documents to the concerned District Social Welfare office.

3. Obtain the application form from the respective counter OR write on a plain paper OR download using the following link. link
4. After scrutiny, the application is forwarded to the respective department for approval.
5. Following the approval, the approval letter is dispatched to the respective Post Office of the applicant or bank, where a savings account is opened in the name of the beneficiary for making the payments.
6. In case of rejection of application, the applicant is duly informed.

State government scheme - SUBSISTENCE ALLOWANCE

1. Applicant shall apply two copies of duly filled application form along with required documents to the BDOs or Office of the Social Welfare Officers and also can approach Social Welfare Division at Head Quarter, Gangtok

4. This application will be processed further for approval.

  • The age of the disabled shall be between 18-64yrs
• For state assistance
  • 40% and above disability
  • Annual family income not more than Rs 24,000/-
  • Applicant must be resident of state
  • No age bar
  • Those who are availing other disability pension from state or central govt. will not be eligible to avail subsistence allowance.
