Senegal - Obtain Marriage Certificate


Procedure

  1. Gather all documents needed to be presented to obtain a marriage certificate.
  2. Submit your request to obtain the certificate to the civil registry where the civil marriage was registered.
  3. Pay all necessary fees.


Note: In case the marriage certificate or the family book was lost or stolen, a copy may be requested from the same civil registry where the marriage record is being kept. The procedures to be followed will be the same.

  • An old copy of the marriage certificate

Note: The applicant may also provide references to the marriage (date, No. of the act, etc.)

  • Any person authorized to obtain a marriage certificate and in possession of a court order




Fees

Administrative fee to obtain a marriage certificate varies depending on the locality issuing the certificate:

  • In municipalities, the amount to be paid ranges between 200 to 500 FCFA
  • In rural communities, the amount to be paid ranges between 75 to 150 FCFA
