Senegal - Apply for Firearm (Gun) License


Procedure

Apply for the license for the first time:

  1. To obtain a Firearm (Gun) License, an applicant must submit an application to the District Administrative Office, the prefecture or governance, in his/her place of residence. Note: Locations and contact numbers provided below.
  2. Applicants will need to submit the following documents.
    1. A handwritten request addressed to the Minister of the Interior
    2. Copy of the applicant's national identity card
    3. An extract from the judicial record
    4. 4 passport photos
    5. A revenue stamp of 2 000 FCFA
    6. A stamped envelope bearing the address of the applicant
  3. It will take several weeks for your application to be processed.


In case of loss or theft:

  1. You will need to follow the same procedure when you apply for the license for the first time.
  2. Request a duplicate by providing the same documents you submitted the first time, with the addition of these documents:
    1. Certificate of loss
    2. Proof that you met the annual tax on firearms
