- To Get Universal Credit, the applicant has to make the application online via link
- The applicant has to click the “Start” button.
- The applicant has to check all the details and click the “Continue” button.
- Create a user ID and password with the following details and click the “Continue” button.
- Followed by the applicant has to select “Credit” from the following list.
- Now enter all the details in the application form.
- Also, upload all the necessary documents which are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
- There is no fee for Universal Credit.
- After completing all the details, the applicant has to click the “Submit & Save” button.
- After receiving the application, the concerned authority will check the submitted application and document set. If all are in place, the application will be accepted.
- Then the application will be processed further.
- Once the process gets completed, the applicant gets a call from the office regarding the application.
- The applicant will be invited to attend an appointment with a work coach. This will be an opportunity for you to discuss your employment situation and any support you may need to find work.
- For further details, the applicant has to follow the instruction given by the officer.
- This entire process can be completed within 20 days or as per the timeline advised by the respective department authority.

Eligibility
To be eligible for Universal Credit in Scotland, you must meet the following criteria:
- You must be on a low income or have no income.
- You must be aged 18 years or over. In some cases, 16 or 17-year-olds may be eligible.
- You must not be in full-time education, although some exceptions apply.
- You must be a resident of the UK and have the right to work and claim benefits.
- You must have less than £16,000 in savings.
- You must not be receiving certain other benefits, such as Income Support, Jobseeker's Allowance, or Housing Benefit.
