- To Apply for Taxi Licensing and Enforcement License, the applicant has to approach the Department of Transport link
- An application form will be provided to the applicant by the concerned officer.
- The applicant has to fill in all the necessary details in the application form. (Incomplete applications are not accepted)
- Make sure that the applicant has attached all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
- The applicant has to attach photocopies of the required documents along with the application form while submitting it.
- Include detailed site plans and architectural drawings of the proposed pier. This should demonstrate the layout, dimensions, and any structures or facilities that will be part of the pier.
- Submit all the documents with the completed form to the concerned officer.
- If the applicant is applying for a taxi driver's license, his/her vehicle may need to undergo an inspection to ensure it meets the required safety standards.
- Some licensing authorities may require the applicant to undergo a medical examination to ensure he/she is fit to drive a taxi.
- In some areas, the applicant may be required to pass a knowledge test that assesses his/her understanding of local geography, regulations, and customer service skills.
- The applicant has to pay the prescribed fee as requested by the authority.
- After receiving the application, the concerned authority will check the submitted application and document set. If all are in place, the application will be accepted.
- Then the application will be processed further. All the updates on the application status will be sent via SMS to the applicant’s mobile number.
- Once the process gets completed, the applicant gets a call from the office regarding the application.
- If the application meets all the requirements, the licensing authority will issue the applicant a Taxi Licensing and Enforcement License, which will specify the terms and conditions of his/her license.
- This entire process can be completed within 30 days or as per the timeline advised by the respective department authority.

Eligibility
To be eligible to apply for a Taxi Licensing and Enforcement License in Scotland, the applicant must meet the following requirements:
- The applicant must be at least 18 years old.
- The applicant must have a full UK driving licence with no more than 6 penalty points within the last 2 years.
- The applicant must have a clean criminal record.
- The applicant must be able to speak and understand English.
