1. To Apply for Guardians Allowance, the applicant has to approach the HM Revenue and Customs - Guardian's Allowance Unit link
2. The applicant has to use the following link to complete the form and download the form link
3. The applicant has to click the “Next” button.
4. Enter all the details in the application form and click the “Next” button.
5. Also, The applicant has to fill in all the necessary details in the application form. (Incomplete applications are not accepted)
6. The applicant has to click the “Download” button.
7. Make sure that the applicant has attached all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
8. Submit all the documents with the completed form to the concerned office's postal address.
9. The postal address is mentioned in the “Office Locations & Contacts” section of this page.
10. There is no fee for Guardians Allowance.
11. After receiving the application, the concerned authority will check the submitted application and document set. If all are in place, the application will be accepted.
12. Then the application will be processed further. All the updates on the application status will be sent via SMS to the applicant’s mobile number.
13. Once the process gets completed, the applicant gets a call from the office regarding the application.
14. If the application is successful, the applicant will start receiving Guardians Allowance payments.
15. The entire process can be completed within 15 – 30 days or as per the timeline advised by the respective department authority.

• Guardians Allowance is a payment for people who are bringing up a child whose parents have died. To be eligible for Guardians Allowance, the applicant must be the child's legal guardian and the child's parent(s) must have died.
