1. To Apply for Disability Living Allowance, the applicant has to approach the Department for Work & Pensions link
2. The applicant can request an application form by calling the DLA helpline on 0800 121 4600.
3. An application form will be provided to the applicant by the concerned officer
4. The applicant has to fill in all the necessary details in the application form. (Incomplete applications are not accepted)
5. Make sure that the applicant has attached all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
6. The applicant has to attach the photocopies of the required documents along with the application form while submitting.
7. Submit all the documents with the completed form to the concerned officer.
8. Also, the applicant has to attend a medical assessment.
9. There is no fee for Disability Living Allowance.
10. After receiving the application, the concerned authority will check the submitted application and document set. If all are in place, the application will be accepted.
11. Then the application will be processed further. All the updates on the application status will be sent via SMS to the applicant’s mobile number.
12. Once the process gets completed, the applicant gets a call from the office regarding the application.
13. If the claim is successful, the applicant will receive regular payments to help with the extra costs associated with the disability or health condition.
14. This entire process can be completed within 12 weeks or as per the timeline advised by the respective department authority.

To be eligible:

• Have a health condition or disability that has caused difficulties with daily living or mobility for at least 3 months, and is expected to continue for at least another 9 months.
• Be aged between 16 and State Pension age.
• Meet the residence and presence criteria, which means you must usually be living in Scotland, England, Wales or Northern Ireland when you apply, and have spent at least 2 of the last 3 years in the UK.
• Pass a qualifying period, which means you must have been experiencing difficulties with daily living or mobility for at least 3 months before you can claim PIP.
• Score enough points in the PIP assessment, which assesses your ability to carry out various activities related to daily living and mobility.

• There is no fee for Disability Living Allowance.
