Apply Online
- To obtain a pleasure craft license, the applicant will need to visit the Transport Canada website, use the following Link.
- The applicant needs to select if they are a boat dealer or a pleasure craft owner, tick the option that applies.
- The applicant will have to select the application type, in this case, it will be “New”.
- Tick the box that says “I have read the terms and conditions”.
- Click on “Continue”.
- The applicant will be directed to another page where they will have to enter their pleasure craft license number and date of birth.
- Click on “Save and Continue”.
- On the next page, the applicant will have to enter details such as their name, information about their pleasure craft as well as information about the craft’s previous owner.
- Click on “Submit” once all the information has been entered.
- The applicant will be directed to another page where they will have to upload documents.
- Once submitted, the applicant will have to select their preferred mode of delivery of the document.
- Accept the disclaimer.
- The applicant will receive an acknowledgement number.
- The applicant will receive their license through mail within 5 to 15 days from the date of submission of the application.
Apply by Mail
- The applicant will need to download and print the application form, use the following Application form.
- To obtain a new license, the applicant needs to complete parts A, D, F and part C of the application form. (This is indicated on the application form).
- The applicant will need to enter all relevant details in the application form.
- Attach photocopies of the documents that are required.
- Required documents can be found under the “Required Documents” section of this page.
- Submit the application form along with the documents to this address: Pleasure Craft Licensing Centre P.O. Box 2006 Fredericton, New Brunswick E3B 5G4.
- The applicant will receive their license through mail within 5 to 15 days after submission of the application.
Required Documents
- Photocopies of the following documents if the applicant is applying by mail.
- A signed copy of a valid piece of government-issued identification, which may be
- A provincial/territorial birth certificate
- A certificate of Canadian citizenship
- The applicant’s passport or
- A provincial/territorial driver's licence.
- A current side view photograph of the pleasure vehicle.
- Proof of ownership of the vehicle. (or)

Eligibility
- The applicant must be a resident of Canada.
- The applicant must legally own their vehicle.
Fees
- The applicant will have to pay a fee of 15$.
Validity
- The pleasure craft license is valid for a period of 10 years.
