Saskatchewan - Apply for Tobacco Importer License

Apply by Mail

  1. To apply for a Tobacco Importer License, the applicant will need to submit an application form by mail to the Ministry of Finance.
  2. The applicant will need to submit an application. Click on the following links to the application form Link
  3. Fill out the application forms with all the relevant details.
  4. The applicant may need to pay a bond deposit, find further information under the “Fees” section of this page.
  5. Mail the application form to the address mentioned under the “Office Locations and Contacts” section of this page.
  6. Once the Tobacco collector agreement has been signed and approved by the Ministry of Finance, the applicant shall receive their license by mail.
  7. The applicant shall receive their license once the application has been approved, this will be told to the applicant by the authorities.

Eligibility

  • The applicant must be 19 years of age or above.
  • The applicant must have a business plan and financial statements.
  • The applicant must provide security in the form of a bond or a letter of credit.
  • The applicant must agree to report and filing requirements, this includes:
    • Reporting and remitting of tax, every month on the 20th.




Fees

  • The applicant will need to pay a fee to obtain a license, this will be intimated by the authorities.
  • The applicant will need to pay a security bond.

  • A person who wholesales tobacco must apply for the tobacco importer licnese.
  • Once the applicant is licensed, they will have to file a tobacco tax return on the 20th of every month.
