Procedure
Apply via Agent
- To apply for Janani Suraksha Yojana (JSY), pregnant women should visit the official website of the JSY through the following Link
- She will be redirected to the official portal of the National Health Mission.
- From the home page, click on the JSY located on the menu.
- Select the “Apply Online” button.
- Click on the “Download Application Form Online PDF” option.
- Once the download completes, open the application form and take a printout of it.
- Note: If the applicant does not have access to the internet, she can also obtain a printout of the application form from the nearest the Mako Anganwadi or Women Health Care Centre.
- Fill in all the details which are asked in the application form like Name, Mobile Number, Address, State, etc.
- Pin the required certificates and documents as mentioned in the “Required Documents” of this page, to the application form.
- Now take the application form and submit it to the Mako Anganwadi or Women Health Care Centre.
Required Documents
- BPL certificate.
- S.C. / S.T. Certificate.
- ANC Registration in a Govt. Health Institution.
- Mother Child Protection card. (MCP Card)
- Bank Account Number.
- AADHAR Card.
- Note:
- If an expectant mother does not have a BPL certificate but the Pradhan of Gram Panchayat where she resides certifies that she belongs to an economically weak / poor family, it will be sufficient to give her JSY benefits.
- In all such cases, where the JSY beneficiaries produce a certificate / document required to make the payment to JSY beneficiary which is signed by the Pradhan of the Gram Panchayat the same shall be accepted without insisting that a Magistrate should issue the certificate.

Eligibility
- All pregnant women categorized under Below Poverty Line (BPL) households, residing in rural as well as urban areas.
- Monetary assistance can be availed only by pregnant women of the age of 19 years and above. Women below 19 years cannot register themselves under Janani Suraksha Yojana.
- Women with up to two live births are eligible for medical facilities and compensation, as offered by the scheme, can enrol under the scheme.
- Monetary benefits of the scheme can be availed only by women enrolled under the scheme and have delivered in government hospitals or in any private medical centre that has been selected by the government.
Fees
No fee is required to apply for benefits under JSY.
Validity
Pregnant women can avail benefits throughout the pregnancy until 10 weeks postpartum.

Instructions
The mother and the ASHA (wherever applicable) should get their entitled money at the heath centre immediately on arrival and registration for delivery.

Need for the Document
- Janani Suraksha Yojana is an initiative to provide poor pregnant women with neonatal and post-natal care.
- It specializes in offering medical facilities and compensation for women who cannot finance these healthcare services on their own.
- It reduces out of- pocket expenses during child birth.
- Under the JSY, pregnant women are entitled to cash assistance for giving birth in a government or accredited private health facility.
- This scheme entitles women for accessing Maternal and child health services with a financial assistance of Rs.700/- and Rs.600/- in rural and urban areas respectively and Rs.500 for home deliveries.
