Queensland - Single Status Certificate


Procedure

Apply In-Person:

  1. To obtain a Single Status Certificate, the applicant has to approach the agents at a Queensland Magistrates Court or Queensland Government Agent Program (QGAP) office or Brisbane registry customer service. Contact details are mentioned in “Office Locations & Contacts” of this page. Or use the following given Contact Link
  2. An application form is available at the following Link
  3. The applicant has to fill-in all the details in the form.
  4. Applicant should make sure to attach all the documents that are mentioned under the “Required Documents” section of this page (Both photocopies and originals).
  5. Submit the application with the required document to appropriate office.
  6. Submitting address is mentioned in “Office Locations & Contacts” of this page.
  7. The fee of this procedure is mentioned under the “Fees” section of this page.
  8. Government of Queensland will issue the certificate and notify the applicant.
  9. Please contact Government of Queensland for further details.

  • Each additional name searched - $26.20
  • Express post - $7.45
  • Registered mail - $5.55
  • International registered post - $17.70

Need for the Document

  • A Single Status Certificate is a formal document that certifies a person's single status in accordance with the applicant's jurisdictional legislation.
  • It could be a certified declaration confirming the affiant's single status or the absence of any children from any prior unions. It guarantees that the applicant can get married anywhere in the world.




Information which might help

  • In the completed application form, the applicant must provide us with the information of the search.
  • The searches are either of the following types:
  • When the applicant turned 16 to the present, if they were divorced, from the date of their divorce to the present, if their ex-spouse had died, from the date of their death to the present, and if they had relocated to Queensland, from the date of their relocation to the present.
