• Any person residing in or employed by Queensland may submit an application for a National Police Certificate (NPC), which is handled by the Queensland Police Service (QPS).
• People who live elsewhere in Australia should get in touch with their state's local police station.

• Fee for this procedure will be informed by Australian post outlet and in the online process.

• The Queensland Police Service (QPS) does not impose a validity period for a National Police Certificate (NPC), as it is valid as of the date of issuance.
• Depending on the date of issue, employers and/or organisations will decide whether an NPC conducted by QPS will be acceptable.

• The Queensland Police Service (QPS) issues National Police Certificates (NPCs) based on a search of a person's identity against the criminal history data kept by all policing organisations in Australia.
• It contains information from all Australian Police jurisdictions about a person's disclosable court decisions.

• It is essential that the applicant apply for a criminal background check through the Australian Federal Police (AFP) if they need an NPC for immigration to Australia.
