Quebec - Renew Driver License


Procedure

Apply In-Person:

  1. When an applicant needs to renew their driver’s license, they will get notified the applicant will need to visit the nearest Service Outlet, and find the nearest drivers test centre office here Link.
  2. Make sure to carry the old driver’s license.
  3. Carry all relevant documents as mentioned under the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  4. Fill in the application form, enter all relevant details.
  5. The applicant will have their photo taken.
  6. The applicant will have to pay fees. Payment details are mentioned under the “Fees” section of this page.
  7. The applicant shall receive their new driver’s license by registered post within a few weeks from the submission of the application.

  • Expired driver’s license or driver’s license number
  • 7 digit trillium number found on the driver’s license
  • ID proof such as:
    • Passport
    • Military ID
    • Health card
  • Proof of Alberta residency
  • Fee receipt
  • Application form

Eligibility

  • The applicant must have a full licence (G, M class) that isn’t cancelled or suspended.
  • The applicant hasn’t updated his/her address within the last 90 days.
  • The applicant doesn’t need eye test.
  • The applicant has no new medical conditions that may prevent him/her from driving.
  • The applicant should not have any outstanding fines or penalties.
  • The applicant is a resident of Quebec.




Fees

  • The applicant will need to pay fees which will be told to them by the authorities.
  • The applicant can pay by card.
  • The applicant can pay using cheque by mailing the cheque to the following address: Société de l'assurance automobile du Québec Case postale 19100, succursale Terminus Québec (Québec) G1K 8J6.




Validity

A driver’s license is valid for a period of 5 years after which it needs to be renewed.

Processing Time

The applicant shall receive his/her license within 4 to 6 weeks from the submission of the application.

If the applicant is older than 70 years of age, he/she will need to show a medical clearance certificate.
