Quebec - Change Information in Driver License


Procedure

  • Bring all the documents stated below when you are going to one of the service centres.
  • If you are not a Canadian citizen, you must contact the SAAQ by telephone to make an appointment. You cannot make an appointment over the Internet.
  • The information clerk will tell you what steps to take based on your situation and give you an appointment.
  • Bring your driver's licence, if you have one, to the appointment as well as the other required documents (always bring the originals of your documents).





Required Documents

For Canadian Citizen:

  • Your driver's licence;
  • An original birth certificate issued by the registrar of civil status (Directeur de l'tat civil) or by the official issuing authority if the information that requires correction appears on your birth certificate, or your Canadian Citizenship Certificate issued by Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC).
  • Confirmation of Permanent Residence for permanent residents

  • No corrections can be made by telephone, except for a change of address.

Need for the Document

If an error appears on your driver's license, you must go to one of the service centres - SAAQ (Societe de l'assurance automobile). Your driver's license must be up-to-date in order to drive publicly on the roads in Quebec.
