Procedure
Apply via Agent
This service is provided by the Food Safety Department, which allows food importers/ clearance companies to fill an application for the release of seized foodstuff.
Apply In-Person
- The applicant for the Request for Final Release of Seized / Detained Foodstuff Has to make an application in person to the Food Safety Department, of the Ministry of Public Health (MOPH). This can be done by visiting their Healthoffice to make the application. Contact details of the mentioned ports can be found in the “Office Locations & Contacts” of this page.
- Here you will be given a Request for Release of Detained Foodstuff form to fill and submit. The form can also be obtained by clicking on the “E-service” button from the following MOPH Website page and filled beforehand.
- Fill in the required information correctly and submit the form.
- Make sure you choose the correct “Importer Justification for the Request”
- Once done, an e-payment link will be sent via text message to your phone or e-mail address.
- Click on the link and follow the steps for online payment.
- Payment is done via credit card or debit card.
- Upon successful completion of the payment process, you will receive a text message or email confirming the success of the transaction and containing the payment receipt.
- Print the payment receipt.
- Submit the receipt along with the consignment documents at the concerned port officer to complete the final release of the foodstuff.
- The required documents are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
- Once the documents are submitted the Ministry of Public Health inspectors will carry out inspection of the foodstuff to determine if the prescribed safety standards are met or not and if it can be released.
- Once the inspection are complete; and everything is on order, Ministry of Public Health inspectors will release the seized foodstuff.

Eligibility
- Importers and exporters of food, and customs clearance companies with seized foodstuff are eligible to request for the final release of seized foodstuff.
Fees
- Pay as per the advice of the officials.

- The certificate is valid per consignment.
