• Reporting of births to the competent health office in the State of Qatar shall be undertaken within fifteen days from the date of the birth.
  

Apply In-Person

1. To make a registration of birth in Qatar, one has to make an application to the Ministry of Public Health. The Ministry of Public Health MOPH which is the authority responsible to register births in Qatar.
2. The first step is to book an appointment to make an application in advance. You can obtain advance appointments by contacting registered birth registration offices in government and private hospitals from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm by contacting the following offices:

3. After contacting the birth and registration offices and securing the appointment date and time proceed to download the application form designated for notifications and registration of newborns from the MOPH website or through the following link: Birth Certificate Registration and Notification Form
4. You should note that you should fill out the application form for registration prior to your scheduled appointment.
5. Attach all the required documents to the application form and make the submission
6. Pay the required fee QR10 20 for each birth certificate notice and submit the payment receipt.
7. The birth registration takes one day to processes you will done on the same day.

First: New Qatari Births - Born in Qatar

1. The father of the newborn, if present.
2. Adult relatives who have attended the birth: male first, then female, who are the closest relative to the newborn.
3. Persons residing with the mother in the same house: male first, then female.
4. The physician or other licensed persons who attended to the delivery.
5. Directors of hospitals, maternity homes, jails or other locations where the birth takes place.
6. The aforesaid persons shall not be responsible for reporting where the sequential order required for persons making the report cannot be established. No unauthorized persons may report a birth.

• Birth registration is the first step towards obtaining a birth certificate.
• Registration documents your existence, your place and the date of birth.

• Registration of birth will enable you obtain a birth certificate which is a legal document that proves and provides the names of your parents. i.e. it shows one’s kinship. It is also the first step towards the full exercise of citizenship. It is a proof of citizenship in Qatar and enables the holder to access the rights of a citizen of Qatar.
• The Ministry of Public Health (MOPH) issues birth certificates for children born in Qatar. Children born to foreign nationals are not entitled to Qatari nationality. Expatriate parents are responsible for registering their child’s birth with their respective country’s embassy

• Birth registration is a pre-requisite to obtaining a birth certificate.

Note:

1. Any person who discovers an abandoned newborn shall deliver it to the nearest police station, which shall notify the Qatari Orphan Foundation (Dhreima) promptly upon delivery and shall implement the necessary measures to provide the required medical care to the newborn.
2. The police shall prepare a record on the circumstances and conditions wherein the newborn was found, indicating the place, date and time of the discovery, the newborn’s sex, its condition when discovered, a description of its physical characteristics, and an accurate description of its clothing and belongings, if any.
3. Such record shall note the name, occupation and address of the person who discovered the newborn.
