Apply In-Person

1. Persons wishing to take a driving test in Qatar can do this by applying to the Ministry of Interior (MOI) through a driving school where they received their training.
2. Here you will be issued with an application form to fill and complete.
3. Fill in the required information, select the date which you want to take the test and attach the required documents before submission.
4. These documents include:-

   • four passport-size photos (with a white background),
   • your Qatari ID,
   • your eye test receipt,
   • A copy of your sponsor’s company ID,
   • A letter of permission from your sponsor. This includes female applicants sponsored by their husbands and men sponsored by their wives.

5. Pay the appropriate application fees and summit the receipt together with the application to the driving school’s administration where it will be forwarded to the MOI.
6. This process is completed immediately.

Apply Online

1. The first step is to log in with your smartcard to the e-services portal of the Ministry of Interior (MOI) by clicking on the MOI Services tab and selection the E-services option.
2. If you do not have an account with the MOI e-portal, you have to register for the services using your smart card.
3. Once logged in, click on "Traffic Services” on the dashboard then click on the "Driving Test Appointment” link.
4. The next step is to enter your identification details.

   • For Qatari applicants: Select “My QID”, then enter the number.
   • For residents who hold QIDs: Select “QID Number”, then enter the number.
   • For valid visa holders: Select “Visa Number”, then enter the number.

5. After this enter the cell phone number and email of service beneficiary or applicant so that the system displays the appointment details page.
6. This page displays detailed information about the person taking the test (applicant) and learning permit details. View the information to ensure that everything is okay.
7. If everything is okay, select a driving school from the ones available in the schools list.
8. Then select an available date and time for the test for the selected driving school.
9. Pay appropriate fees so that the appointment is allocated to the beneficiary.
10. This process is completed immediately.

• There are separate courses for heavy-duty vehicles, and for motorcycles.
• There is a charge of QAR50 per test.
• All who wish to get a license must enroll themselves in either a half course or a full course.
• Licenses are for manual or automatic cars. If you hold a manual license you may drive an automatic, but not vice versa.

• This service enables individuals who have foreign driving licenses to submit a request to the Ministry of Interior (MOI) in order to book a driving test appointment at one of the accredited driving schools.

THE DRIVING TEST

• To get your driving license, you will have to pass the following tests:
  

Theory test:

The test is taken digitally and applicants need to score at least 18 out of 20. The test comprises 20 multiple-choice questions, many of which deal with traffic laws.

L parking:

The first test you do in the yard. Here you’ll make a right turn up the slope.

Box or perpendicular parking:

The box parking is the second test done in the yard. It’s akin to parking in a regular parking lot.

Road test:

If you pass your oral and parking tests, your examiner will take you out of the testing grounds on to the road to test your proficiency. You may also be asked to do a hill-start before leaving the grounds.

• Once you have passed your driving test, your driving license will be issued while you wait. The license will cost you QAR250 and is valid for five years.
• Please note that all transactions at the Traffic Department must be paid for using either a credit or debit card, or by using the Ministry of Interior eCASH card.
• The police have offices in all the driving schools and you can even take your eye test there.
