Punjab - Apply for Temporary Residence Certificate (TRC)


Procedure

Apply In-Person:

  1. To apply for temporary residence certificate, applicant has to approach the tehsildar at revenue department office.
  2. Link for contact: link
  3. Go to the respective office.
  4. Collect the application form or write on a plain A4 sheet as advised.
  5. Complete the application form. Attach the entire required documents as per our “required documents” section and submit it to the designated authority.
  6. After the application form is processed, an enquiry officer will make a thorough verification regarding your proof which you have submitted along with the form.
  7. Collect the acknowledgment slip for submitting the form. Keep it safe for future reference.
  8. Use acknowledgment slip to obtain certificate as per the department notification.



Apply Online:

  1. To Apply for Temporary Residence Certificate (TRC), the applicant has to make the application online via the following link link
  2. The applicant has login with their User name and password. if the applicant is a new user the applicant has to click “register now” and create an account.
  3. Next the applicant has to select the service and enter all necessary details in the application form.
  4. The applicant has to upload all the required documents that are mentioned in required documents section of this page.
  5. Review the application and click “submit”. On successful submission, the applicant will receive an application number as acknowledgement. The applicant will also get a transaction number as a text message on their registered mobile number.
  6. Applicant has to make necessary payment and don’t forget to take the receipt.
  7. This application will be forwarded to the respective department for further processing.
  8. ”SMS” triggered update on application status will be sent to the applicant’s mobile. Please keep track of the notification.
  9. The submitted application will be processed by the department. A designated authority (supply officer) will verify the submitted documents and inspect the area of the applicant to clarify the applicant’s details.
  10. Based on the outcome of the above-mentioned steps and other internal processing, the designated issuing authority will decide on the issuance of the Certificate.
  11. The status, viz. Approval or Rejection will be conveyed to the applicant through an “SMS” or applicable norms.

  • Appointment Order/Transfer Order/Govt. Identity Card
  • Copy of 2 recent passport size photograph
  • Attested copy of birth certificate.
  • Attested copy of education certificate
  • Attested copy of voter ID
  • Attested copy of Inner line permit (This document is required in some states as per local government norms)
  • Attested copy of trading license as per requirement
  • Govt. Identity Card /Trading License of Guardian
  • Trading/establishment of guardian.
  • Certificate stating evidence of guardianship

Eligibility

  • Applicant with a valid residence certificate from other state can apply for temporary residence certificate in the state where they are working/doing business.
  • Applicant must be the citizen of India.

Temporary certificate is valid for 1 year (it can be issued for a maximum of 2 years)

  • Do not submit fake documents as a proof to obtain this certificate.
  • Applying for residential certificate in another state is an offence.
