Punjab - Apply for Senior Citizen Certificate

Apply through Phone Call

  • You can apply by calling "14567" which is a National Helpline for the Elders and they should be able to facilitate you to get a Senior Citizen Certifiate or Identity Card.

Apply Online

  1. To Apply for a Senior Citizen Certificate, the applicant has to make the application online : link
  2. From the senior citizen identity card, the applicant has to click the “Click to Apply” button.
  3. If the applicant is a new user, the applicant has to click the “Don’t have account? Register Now” button.
  4. Enter all the registration details and click the “Register” button.
  5. Now the applicant has to log in with the username and password, captcha and click the “Login” button.
  6. Enter all the details in the application form.
  7. And upload all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  8. Pay the prescribed amount fee in online mode.
  9. Once completed with all the details click the “Submit” button.
  10. After receiving the application, the concerned authority will check the submitted application and document set. If all are in place, the application will be accepted.
  11. Then the application will be processed further. All the updates on the application status will be sent via SMS to the applicant’s mobile number.
  12. Once the process is completed, the applicant gets a call from the office regarding the application.
  13. Once your application is approved, you will be informed about when and where to collect your Senior Citizen Certificate. Make sure to carry proper identification when collecting the certificate.
  14. The Senior Citizen Certificate can be used to access various benefits and privileges provided by the government for senior citizens. These benefits may include discounts on public transportation, healthcare, and other services.
  15. The authority will assess the application, once the applicant meets all the requirements the authority will issue the license.
  16. This entire process can be completed within 10 days or as per the timeline advised by the respective department authority.



Apply In-Person:

  1. To apply for the senior citizen certificate, please approach the concerned Suwidha centers or Gram Suwidha Kendra’s (GSK). DEPARTMENT OF SOCIAL SECURITY AND WOMEN & CHILD DEVELOPMENT issues this ID.

  3. Please go to the respective office to get details for applying and also the application form.

  5. Make sure that you have all the proper documents mentioned in the “Required documents” section below.
  6. The Applicant shall submit his request for sanctioning of Senior Citizen Identity Card to the Suwidha operator/Authorized GSK by providing him required details along with required supporting documents.
  7. The Applicant shall have to prove his identity to the Authorized Operator using any government issued ID Proof. If applicant has no age proof then he has to get his age certified from Civil Hospital.
  8. The Suwidha operator/Authorized GSK will process the submitted application online.
  9. Please follow authorities guidelines and pay as required.
  10. Applicant will get the transaction id /acknowledgement slip. Please keep it for future transaction.
  11. This application will be processed internally. Verification of submitted documents will also be carried.
  12. After successful completion, Certificate will be delivered to the applicant through applicable norms after notification.
  13. The whole process of issuing the Senior Citizen Certificate will take 7 to 15 working days.

  • Two photographs of the applicant.
  • Aadhaar card
  • ID card of the applicant (Pension book/ School certificate/ Identity Card issued by competent authority OR Bank passbook with photo)
  • Residential Proof(Ration cards/Valid Passport/Voter ID card)
  • Pan card ( For Monthly Pension above Rs.15,000 per month)
  • Birth certificate / document to prove the age
  • Residence certificate issued by Competent Authority for the said period as required.

Need for the Document

  • The Government of India provides facilities for citizens above the age of 60 years. In order to avail those facilities one has to get the certificate.
  • The senior citizen certificate will allow the holder to receive numerous benefits like discounts in Railways, Flights and other benefits from the government.




Information which might help

  • Without cross signature(half on paper and half on photograph) and signature on undertaking, the application will be rejected
  • One has to produce the card to prove the authorities whenever asked for. So, this card must be carried always.
NOTE : It is a punishable offense to try with fraudulent documents to get a Senior citizen certificate
