Apply Online (Through broker)

1. To apply for a cheese import license, the applicant will need an Export and Imports Permit Act (EIPA) number. If the applicant has any queries, they can use the following contact Link
2. To obtain an EIPA number, the applicant will need to fill out the following application form Link
3. To obtain an import permit, the applicant will need to apply through a customs broker, who has access to “Export-Import Control Systems” (EICS). The applicant can find a broker by clicking on the following link under the “Instructions” section of this page.
4. The broker will help the applicant to fill out the application form to obtain an import license. Download the application form using the following Link
5. Once the application form has been filled out, the applicant will need to submit information about the products to the EICS system, which will be done with the help of the broker.
6. The applicant will need to pay a fee for each product that has been entered. Find further information under the “Fees” section of this page.
7. The applicant’s request for import approval will be issued within 30 days from the arrival of the products.

• The applicant must be a resident of Canada.
• The applicant must be importing cheese into Canada.

• The applicant will need to pay a fee of 15 to 31$, this will be calculated by the authorities.
• The applicant may need to pay additional charges to the broker.
• If the applicant is not applying through a broker, they will need to attach a cheque with the application form.
• The cheque must be made out to the receiver-general of Canada.
• The applicant may also be put into a monthly billing system, for further information contact the authorities.

• The permit is valid for 30 days from the day the products arrive in Canada.
