- To Renew Solo Parent ID, the applicant has to approach the Department of Social Welfare and Development link
- An application form will be provided to the applicant by the concerned officer.
- The applicant has to fill in all the necessary details in the application form. (Incomplete applications are not accepted)
- Make sure that the applicant has attached all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
- The applicant has to attach the photocopies of the required documents along with the application form while submitting.
- Submit all the documents with the completed form to the concerned officer.
- The fee for this procedure is free of cost.
- After receiving the application, the concerned authority will check the submitted application and document set. If all are in place, the application will be accepted.
- An acknowledgment receipt will be provided. Please save it for future reference.
- Then the application will be processed further. All the updates on the application status will be sent via SMS to the applicant’s mobile number.
- Once the process gets completed, the applicant gets a call from the office regarding the application.
- The applicant has to visit the office to get Solo Parent ID or through the mail.
- This entire process can be completed within 30 days or as per the timeline advised by the respective department authority.

Eligibility
Solo Parent IDs are issued to the following:
- A woman who gives birth as a result of rape and other crimes against chastity even without a final conviction of the offender, provided that mother keeps and raises the child.
- Parent left solo or alone with the responsibility of parenthood due to the following circumstances:
- Due to the death of a spouse.
- Spouse is detained or is serving sentence for a criminal conviction for at least one (1) year.
- Physical and/or mental incapacity of spouse as certified by a public medical practitioner.
- Legal separation or de facto separation from spouse for at least one (1) year, as long as he/she is entrusted with the custody of the children.
- Declaration of nullity or annulment of marriage as decreed by a court or by a church as long as he/she is entrusted with the custody of the children.
- Unmarried mother/father who has preferred to keep and rear her/his child/children instead of having others care for them or give them up to a welfare institution.
- Any other person who solely provides parental care and support to a child or children.
- Any family member who assumes the responsibility of the head of a family as a result of the death, abandonment, disappearance or prolonged absence of the parents or solo parent.
Fees
- The fee for this procedure is free of cost.

Need for the Document
- A solo parent id is an identification card of a person looking after a child alone, without a spouse. it is used to claim the solo parent benefit from the government.
- After the validation of the identity card goes over, one has to renew it to continue to get the benefits. Otherwise, the card will be invalid and will not be used to get any claim.
