Apply online:

1. To Cancel an Application for Business Name Registration, the applicant has to make the application online via the Department of Trade and Industry – link
2. The applicant has to read the terms and conditions and click the “I agree” button.
3. Enter the business name registered reference code and click the “Search” button.
4. Enter the following details for the cancelation process.
5. Click the “Continue” button and follow the application fill-up, after completing click the “Proceed” button.
6. The payment section will subsequently appear whereupon he/she should select the payment method prescribed by the system.
7. The fee details for this procedure are mentioned in the “Fees” section of this page.
8. Once the payment transaction is successful, the Cancel Application for Business Name Registration will be sent to the email.
9. The processing time for this procedure is completed within an hour.

• Cancellation of registration is done by those who are dropping the business or transferring to some other person.
• Under the Business Name Law (Republic Act 3883), it's illegal for anyone to use any name for a business other than the owner's true name without first registering the business name with the DTI.

• It is necessary to register the applicant’s single proprietorship business with the DTI to provide it with a legal identity and gain the right to use the applicant's business name. Remember that a business name (BN) registration is not a license to operate a business.
