Philippines - Apply for SSS Calamity Loan


Procedure

Apply Online:

  1. To Apply for SSS Calamity Loan, the applicant has to make the application online via the following link
  2. Log in to My SSS account by clicking the "MEMBER" button (on the right side of the page under "PORTAL").
  3. Look for the "E-services" tab on the menu then click "Apply for Calamity Loan".
    Note: If the applicant not eligible for the loan they will be getting this message, "Your registered home or mailing address is not among the NDRRMC declared calamity areas."
  4. A pop-up reminder will appear. Tick the box then clicks the Proceed button.
  5. The applicant will be then directed to the Disbursement Account Enrolment Module page
  6. This is where the applicant will enrol their bank account that will receive the calamity loan proceeds. Make sure that your bank is PESONet-accredited.
  7. Under the Enrolment tab, supply your bank account details and attach supporting documents, such as proof of account, ID, and selfie/photo.
  8. Once the applicant has registered their bank account, it will appear under the Disbursement Account tab. Approval of the bank account takes one to two weeks. Once the account is marked green, it’s already active.
  9. Once the bank account is active, the applicant can apply for the SSS calamity loan. Start by clicking E-Services.
  10. Click Loans. After that, click Apply for Calamity Loan.
  11. Select your address then provide the required information. Tick the box, then click the Proceed button.
  12. On the next page, the applicant see the outline of your application. Click Submit. Wait for the notification regarding your loan application in your My.SSS inbox.
  13. The applicant will receive a notification from the SSS once your application is approved.
  14. The loan can be disbursed to the member via check or Unified Multi-Purpose ID (UMID) - ATM Card or through cash card.


Apply In-Person:

  1. To Apply for SSS Calamity Loan, the applicant has to approach the Philippines Social Security System offices link.
    Note: The applicant has to select the region and branch from the drop-down menu to find nearby offices.
  2. An application form will be provided to the applicant by the concerned officer. Or the applicant can download the application form from the following link
  3. The applicant has to fill in all the necessary details in the application form. (Incomplete applications are not accepted)
  4. Make sure that the applicant has attached all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  5. The applicant has to attach the photocopies of the required documents along with the application form while submitting.
  6. Submit all the documents with the completed form to the concerned officer.
  7. The applicant has to pay the prescribed fee as requested by the authority.
  8. After receiving the application, the concerned authority will check the submitted application and document set. If all are in place, the application will be accepted.
  9. An acknowledgment receipt will be provided. Please save it for future reference.
  10. Then the application will be processed further. This entire process can be completed within 15- 30 days or as per the timeline advised by the respective department authority.

Note: Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the SSS calamity loan is now available to all SSS members nationwide, and applicants are no longer required to submit documents proving that their location is under the state of calamity.

Primary Documents (only ONE is required):

  • Social Security (SS) Card
  • Unified Multi-Purpose ID (UMID) Card
  • Driver's License
  • Passport
  • Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) Card
  • Seaman's Book (Seafarer's Identification and Record Book)


Secondary Documents (in the absence of primary documents, submit TWO of the following):

  • Alien Certificate of Registration
  • Certificate of Licensure / Qualification Document from Maritime Industry Authority
  • Certificate from any of the following, whichever is applicable:
  • National Commission on Indigenous Peoples
  • National Commission on Muslim Filipinos
  • Company ID card
  • Firearm License card issued by Philippine National Police (PNP)
  • Fisherman's card issued by Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR).
  • GSIS card / Member's Record / Certificate of Membership
  • Health or Medical Card
  • Home Development Mutual Fund (Pag-IBIG) Member's Data Form

Eligibility

The calamity loan can be availed by members who are residents of the calamity-stricken areas as declared and may be declared by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) and who suffered losses or damages to their properties located in the said calamity stricken areas.

All currently contributing employed, self-employed and voluntary members applying for calamity loan assistance must meet the following requirements:

  • The employed member's employer must be updated in the payment of contributions and loan remittances, as applicable.
  • The member must:
  • Have at least 36 posted monthly contributions, 6 of which should be posted within the last 12 months prior to the month of filing of application.
  • Be a resident of the calamity declared areas and suffered losses/damages to their properties. A resident is one who has a home address/property at the stricken area.
  • Have not been granted any final benefit, (i.e, total permanent disability, retirement and death) at the time of application.
  • Not have an outstanding restructured loan under the SSS Loan Restructuring Program (LRP).




Fees

Instructions

  • Applicants must complete the application form before submitting it. Incomplete applications will not be accepted.
  • Applicants must provide genuine information while applying for this procedure.
  • The applicant can file their SSS Calamity Loan in person or online through My.SSS. It might be better to file your application online, it is easy and hassle free specially nowadays that SSS branches limits the number of applicants they will service for the day.
  • The applicant will need to file your calamity loan application within 3 months from the issuance of the Circular that states your area (registered address) is under State of Calamity.
  • Schedule and deadlines for the processing of calamity loans are announced by the SSS. Check SSS website to see if they are currently accepting calamity loan

Need for the Document

  • The SSS Calamity Loan Assistance Program (CLAP) is a lending program offered to SSS members living in calamity-stricken areas. It's one of the two programs under the SSS’s Calamity Assistance Program (CAP), with the Three-Month Advance Pension being the other one.
  • The applicant can avail of the SSS calamity loan for 2022 in the aftermath of natural disasters, such as typhoons and earthquakes, as long as the town or city you’re living in is declared by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) as calamity-stricken.

  • The amount of the SSS calamity loan for 2022 is equivalent to one monthly salary credit (MSC), which is computed based on the average of the last 12 MSCs (rounded up to the nearest thousand) or the amount applied for, whichever is lower.
  • The applicant can pay back the SSS loan amount for up to two years in 24 equal monthly instalments. Amortization starts in the second month following the date of the loan approval.
