All exporters who export their products/services through legal channels are required to get attested their Certificates of Origin from a Chamber of Commerce & Industry of their respective area.
Certificate of Origin is a document which establishes evidence on origin of goods imported into any country. A Certificate of Origin is a document used in international trade. It is a printed form, completed by the exporter or its agent and certified by an issuing body, attesting that the goods in a particular export shipment have been wholly produced, manufactured or processed in a particular country.
The origin does not refer to the country where the goods were shipped from but to the country where they were made. In the event the products were manufactured in two or more countries, origin is obtained in the country where the last substantial economically justified working or processing is carried out.
Please explain what are other uses of obtaining this document/certificate. e.g. Birth Certificate can be used as proof of identity.
In many countries, the chambers of commerce issue certificates of origin. A chamber of commerce is an organization composed of local businesses.
In other countries, national consulates or other authoritative groups can issue certificates of origin.
National consulates are offices located in foreign cities to protect and promote their residents, travelers, and both national and international trade.
