Order a Marriage Certificate by Mail

2. Complete the request form and pay the fee.
3. Mail the completed request form to:

Order a Marriage Certificate Online:

2. Pay the fee.

• Certificates are put in the mail within 15 business days (or you get your money back).

There are restrictions on who may apply for a marriage certificate. The parties to the marriage, children of the marriage, parents of the parties to the marriage and legally authorized representatives acting on behalf of these individuals are entitled to apply. Authorized representatives are required to provide proof of authorization.

• Before you can get a marriage certificate, a marriage needs to be registered. The official who performed the marriage will do this by sending a complete and signed marriage license to ServiceOntario. You can order a marriage certificate about 6-8 weeks after this happens.

• name of city or town the marriage took place in

A marriage certificate is a document containing the details of a marriage performed in Ontario. You can order a copy online if the marriage is registered in Ontario. You can use this certificate to change your name, process a divorce, or as a record of family history.
