1. The seller and buyer or their representatives should appear in person before the Directorate of Licensing.
2. They will fill up and submit the application form along with all the necessary requirements.
3. The designated officer will check if all the requirements are properly complied with.
4. The officer will also check that there is no mortgage of restriction from a court or any other authority.
5. He will asks the seller and buyer about the deal, whether the plates are included or not.
6. Once cleared the authority will encode the vehicle's data on the computer system.
7. Fees will be written on the back of the application. This should be paid including applicable charges and fines.
8. Receipt and vehicle license shall be printed out and delivered to the applicant.

1. A completed form to transfer vehicle ownership.
2. Instruments of the new owner should be attached.
3. Insurance policy.
4. A clearance certificate from the mortgage company. The mortgage may be transferred to the buyer provided that the transfer sheet is signed and stamped by the mortgage company.
5. Vehicle License.
6. Number plates should be handed over when transfer is without plates.
7. A letter from the authorized signatory for public and private sectors transactions.

Explain the time until which the certificate/document is valid.
e.g. Birth Certificate Valid Forever

1. A copy of the ID card for Omani Nationals.
2. A copy of the residency card for expatriates.
3. A copy of the commercial register and signature specimen of the private sector and mortgage company, if any.

One of the mandates of the Directorate General of Traffic is to ensure the safety of all road users. It carries out the task of vehicles inspection and licensing, testing and licensing of drivers, investigation of traffic accidents, and installation of road signs.

A list which displays the kind of information which is required to complete the procedure.
e.g.
1. Date of Birth.
2. City or County of Birth.

Almost all vehicles bears a unique vehicle identification number, but only registered ones display a vehicle registration plate and carry a vehicle registration certificate.

Vehicle registration is a requirement by the state. It's purpose is to establish clear ownership and to tax motorist or vehicle owners.

• Insurance policy should be in the name of the buyer.

• Fines on seller/ buyer should be settled.

• Special conditions (if applicable)

1.) Vehicles owned by public sector, diplomatic missions, and international organizations shall not be transferred to any party. They should firstly be cancelled and re-registered or granted to a new owner.

2.) Private Pick ups cannot be transferred to expatriates.

3.) Private pick ups cannot be transferred to an Omani national having a similar type or a 25 passenger bus with a private number.
