Oman - Getting Stamped for Residence


Procedure

1.) The passport and the original visa must be presented to the authority to ensure the documents' validity.

2.) Once validated the said authority will encode some info into the computer then stamp the visa onto the passport.

3.) The stamped passport will now be returned to the holder.





Required Documents

1.) The original visa

2.) The original passport provided it is valid for a period not inferior to six months.


  • Special conditions will be requiring the following documents to be submitted:

1.) The sponsor or his authorized representative should submit a letter from the sponsor.

2.) The original card should be submitted to ensure the applicants identity.

The residence visa is stamped onto the passport of the expatriate after it is granted by the visa department, weather this visa is for:

1.) Employment

2.) Investor

3.) Family joining

4.) Study

5.) Family residence

6.) Change of sponsor

Processing Time

The process will be finished on the same day of submitting the application. The applicant just needs to wait for about 10 minutes for the whole procedure to be over.

Need for the Document

The Directorate of General Passports and Residence carry out all works relating to passports, identity cards, visas, residence permits, and road permits etc. It provides its services at airports, sea ports and border posts as well as from its main office at the ROP Force Headquarters and the regional sections.

The Directorate General's mandate is to apply the legality of the residence in the Sultanate, through applying the residence stamp or renewing the residence to both public and private sectors.
