1. The applicant shall visit the nearby government office (corporation office, municipal office, panchayat office, etc) and submit the cancellation application for trade license to the local authority. The license needs to be cancelled by the municipal commissioner or executive officer.
2. Refer the office contact details in the “Office contacts & Locations” section below.
3. The cancellation application can be obtained in the office.
4. The applicant should, within thirty days from the date of closing the establishment, notify to the officer in writing.
5. Please make sure you have all the documents listed in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
6. Submit the application form along with the required documents.
7. The Officer, after receiving the information and if satisfied about its correctness will remove such establishment from the register of establishments and cancel the trade license.
8. After cancellation, the applicant can get confirmation at the office.

1. The applicant should visit the government website in the below Link
2. Select the district and ULB (Urban Local Body) from the drop down menus
3. Click on option for close of trade license. Enter the License number. And click search button. Then click view button pertaining to your trade license in the result list.
4. Fill in the mandatory details.
5. Please make sure you have all the documents listed in the “Required Documents” section of this page. Upload the documents whichever is necessary.
6. Type necessary details and then click on submit.
7. The applicant should, within thirty days from the date of closing the establishment, notify to the officer.
8. The Officer, after receiving the information and if satisfied about its correctness will remove such establishment from the register of establishments and cancel the trade license.
9. After cancellation, the applicant can confirm it at the website.

No fee is required for cancellation or surrender of trade license.

It is valid forever.

• The cancellation should be done within the financial year.
• Filing of final tax returns and payment of tax needs to be done before closing.
• Prescribed Form should be used for the Application.
• Please fill the Application form completely and correctly.
• The Trade License Number should be mentioned.
• The name, address and other details of the establishment should be mentioned.
• The reason(s) for cancellation should be mentioned in the application form.

• It is required for closure of a business.
• It is required in order to prevent the government from charging you annual fees and reporting requirements.
• In case anyone misuses your license and causes liabilities for you. So, it is better to cancel license to be on the safer side.

• Before cancelling trade license, pay all taxes owed and file tax returns.
• If additional permits or licenses are present then contact the appropriate agency and cancel it.

Trade License is issued by the local government like Panchayat, Municipality and Municipal Corporations. It is a permission to do business in the area which comes under the Local Self Government. The rules for trade license are specified in Odisha Municipal Act.
