No person shall manufacture any weight or measure unless he holds a valid licence issued by the Controller of Legal Metrology.

1. Go to the online portal : online portal
2. In the given page please click “LOGIN” button at the top right corner and select “Investor login”
3. User will reach Investor login page.
4. Please enter the user name, password , captcha as appropriate and click “LOGIN” button to login.
   1. If you are a new user then use the “New user Register Now” option and follow the registration page prompts and section to complete the registration process and then login.
5. Once login, applicant will reach dashboard.
6. From the list of services, applicant can select “License as manufacturer of Weights and Measures under the Legal Metrology Act, 2009” by clicking on right icon.
7. Applicant will get online application form. Please fill in all the relevant details as per page prompts
8. Upload required documents as per the prompt.
9. Pay necessary fee using payment gateway or by selecting challan to pay over the counter and submit the application.
10. A system generated acknowledgement will be provided. Please save it for future reference.
11. An SMS alert will be sent to the applicant regarding application submission.
12. Application will be forwarded online to the concerned Assistant Controller.
13. After scrutiny by the Assistant Controller, short fall in the documentation if any will be intimated through SMS along with the date of inspection.
14. The premises will be inspected by the concerned Legal Metrology Officer and documents in original will be verified and security deposit if applicable would be collected.
15. The Application along with report will be forwarded to the issuing authority concerned.
16. The status, viz. Approval or Rejection if any will be conveyed to the applicant through an SMS.
17. If approved, certificate will be delivered as per applicable norms.

Apply In-Person:

1. Applicant shall approach office of the Assistant Controller of Legal Metrology / controller of legal metrology / Inspectorate Offices under whose dominion the manufacturing unit is located.

3. Go to the office. Please consult with the authority for applying process. If applying in person is entertained then obtain the application form or write on a A4 sheet as advised.
4. After filling/completing application form attach all the required documents as per our required document section.
5. Submit the document set along with required/applicable fee to the receiving authority.
6. Submitted application will be verified by the authorities. If all are in place submitted application will be accepted.
7. Applicant will be provided with receipt for submission of application.
8. This application will be processed further by the department.
9. Applicant gets intimation from the department about the application progress. Follow the notification.
10. There will be inspection cum verification process from the department authorities on a scheduled date.
11. The premises will be inspected by the concerned Legal Metrology Officer and documents in original will be verified and security deposit if applicable would be collected.
12. This application along with inspection/verification report will be submitted to the issuing authority/controller of legal metrology concerned.
13. Based on the advice and report the registration process will be completed,
14. The status, viz. Approval or Rejection if any will be conveyed to the applicant through an SMS.
15. If approved, the certificate will be issued as per applicable norms.

NOTE:

• A proof of sanctioned and installed and energized power load required for proper manufacturing of the items shall also be furnished by the applicant.
• The workshop premises should be suitable and adequate (not less than the area as prescribed)

• Self-declaration about whether any offence is pending against him in court and/ or police station
• Self-declaration about whether the Applicant has violated any of the provisions of Legal Metrology Act, 2009 or rules made there under.

• Latest electricity bill.

• Aadhaar card of directors
