Nova Scotia - Get Insurance Adjuster Certificate of Authority


Procedure

Apply Online:

  1. To get an Insurance Adjuster Certificate of Authority, the applicant will need to approach the Finance and Treasury Board. Here is the contact Link
  2. The applicant will need to submit an application form. Click on the following link to download the application form Link
  3. Fill out the application form with all the relevant details.
  4. The applicant will need to have the application form endorsed by an insurance company that is licensed to operate in Nova Scotia.
  5. If the applicant is a non-resident agent, they will have to provide the Certificate of Authority issued from the jurisdiction where they reside.
  6. The applicant will need to submit additional documents as mentioned under the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  7. The applicant will need to make the fee payment, find further information under the “Fees” section of this page.
  8. Submit the application by mailing it to the address mentioned under the “Office Locations and Contacts” section of this page.
  9. The applicant will need to write exams depending on the level they have applies for. Once they pass this exam, they shall obtain their certificate.

Eligibility

  • The applicant must successfully complete any one of these: Fundamentals of Insurance (Provincial Exam), Parts I and II of the General Insurance Essentials, Part I of the CAIB Program (see IBANS or ITAC) or CIP Program Courses C11 and C130.
  • The applicant must successfully complete any one of these Parts I, II and III of the CAIB Program (See IBANS or ITAC) or CIP Program Courses C11, C130 and C131.
  • The applicant must successfully complete any one of these [Parts I, II, III and IV of the CAIB Program (See IBANS or ITAC) or CIP Program Courses C11, C130, C131 and C132.
