Northern Territory - Obtain Firearm Heirloom License

  1. To obtain a Firearm Heirloom License, you would have to visit your nearest Police Station who should be able to help you in getting the license. Also make sure you are eligible for applying for a license by looking into the list of eligibilities that are provided under the Eligibility section of this page.

Eligibility

  • Provide evidence that they own the firearm(s) to be held on the licence, or it has been given or bequeathed to them.
  • Provided evidence that the firearm(s) to be held on the licence has significant historical or sentimental lineage to the applicant or the applicants family.
  • Produce a NT Police certificate that the firearms(s) to be held on the licence have been deactivated, or the applicant has surrendered the firearm for inspection to be certified as deactivated.
  • Provide written details of how they are going to store firearms to comply with the requirements of the Act and Regulations.
