1. Here's how you can apply for a student loan in person. Most private banks offer this type of loan. To know more about student loans approach a bank officer or go to the 'New Accounts Desk'.
2. The bank officer will ask you a few questions about what type of financial help you are looking for and where will you use the loan.
3. After a short interview, you will be asked to complete an application form. They will also give you a list of documents you will need to submit together with your application. If you don't have all the needed documents it's all right, you can take the form home with you and just comeback to the bank when you all have the needed documents. Take your time in reading the application form.
4. In reviewing your application, banks will usually take into consideration the your character, capacity to repay the loan and ability to comply with the bank's conditions. To help them evaluate your application, they might ask you to present some form of identification or evidence that you are currently enrolled in an educational institution. Have your identification, student registration and income tax returns (if applicable).
5. Also, for banks to know how much you will need to borrow, they will need a computation of your tuition fees, accommodation fees if there's any, school materials etc. Banks may also ask you to provide information about your income/parent's income.
6. After you have submitted your application and all the supporting documents, the bank officer will let you know how many days it will take them to review your application.
   

Unified Financial Assistance System for Tertiary Education Act (UniFAST)

1. Aside from private banks, you may also apply for a student loan through the government's UniFAST program. First, what you need to do is check out this list and see if your school is partnered with UniFAST - List of SUCs and LUCs.
2. Complete the UniFAST Student Loan Program Short-Term Application Form.
3. Submit the application form together with all the required documents directly to your school. They will forward your application to UniFAST. They will notify you about the progress of your application and inform you about how the loan will be disbursed.

1. Search online for banks or financial institution that offers student loan schemes.
2. For convenience, most banks and financial entities allow their applicants to complete and send their application online. Try looking for the 'Apply Now' button, this will take you to the online form.
3. In filling up the form, usually you will be asked to provide your personal details like name, address, contact numbers, birthday, etc. You might also need to provide information about the school you are attending and when you are expected to graduate.
4. Once you are done filling up the form, review your application once again before hitting the 'Submit' button.
5. After reviewing your application, a bank representative will get in touch with you for an interview. When you answer the call make sure that you are really talking to an authorized representative of the bank. Take note of the name of the bank representative.
6. You might be instructed by the bank representative to submit or upload some documents like your IDs, proof that you are attending school, etc. Just provide all the documents they are asking for, but make sure that you are sending your documents to a secure site.
7. After submission the bank will notify you when your loan is approved.

• Photocopy of Certificate of School Registration of the applicant
• Income Tax Return of the applicant, if employed or other proof of family income (e.g Certificate of Employment, Payslips, Audited Financial Statements)
• Income Tax Return or other proof of family income of the co-maker
• Photocopy of School ID of the applicant
• Photocopy of the Government issued ID of the co-maker
• Two (2) copies of 1x1 picture of the applicant and co-maker

Student Loans in the Northern Mindanao - Banks
Some banks in the Northern Mindanao developed a Student Loan Facility to provide students the opportunity to pursue college/university education.

• Loan Amount: Some banks offer full tuition coverage.
• Loan Duration: A loan term equivalent to the duration of the program plus five (5) years.
• Repayment: For some banks, repayment terms begins three (3) months after graduation.
  

The Student Loan Program may have been created by the bank in partnership with a specific school, it will be better if you will get in touch with a bank representative to check if securing a student loan is possible. You can also inquire in your school first, some universities and colleges also provides financial aid to their students in the form of a scholarship, grant or loan.

Things you should know before applying for a loan:

Before you apply for a loan, carefully take note of the interest rate, conditions and repayment scheme that the bank is offering. It will be better if you look into several banks and have done some research regarding the banks application process. One thing that you also need to consider in choosing where to apply for a student loan is the bank's customer service, since this type of loan can take years of continuous correspondence between you and your bank, it will be much better if your bank has a good and accommodating customer service, this will save you from a lot of stress in the future.

Tip: You do not need to accept the entire loan amount the bank is offering you. Since you will be paying back the loan sometime in the future, it will be more ideal if you will only borrow what you need.
