The North Dakota Division of Vital Records (North Dakota Vital Records) issues certified copies of North Dakota death certificates for events which occurred within the State of North Dakota.
Death Certificates are available for events that occurred within the State of North Dakota from 1930 to present.
Effective January 1, 2008, the Division of Vital Records will need proof of identity for all individuals requesting a death record. These new requirements are based on legislative changes that occurred during the 2007 North Dakota legislative session and can be found in North Dakota Century Code 23-02.1-27 (1).

The certified copies will be sent by first class mail unless you specify and include the funds for special shipping through Federal Express for an additional $16.00 (add $6 for delivery to Alaska or Hawaii) or UPS for an additional $16.
