Niue - Register Birth

Procedure

[edit]

  1. After a child is born, the nurse will register the birth in the hospital log book (Birth Registers). A birth notification will be prepared and sent directly to the Civil Registry Office.
  2. The child's parents will need to register the birth at the Civil Registry Office. Details will be entered directly into the Birth Register (hardcopy) and assigned a registry number.
  3. The Registry office will advise the parents when they can come back to collect the Birth Certificate.
  4. The certificate will be printed and the birth will be filed by the Registry Office by year (as single "births" file).
  5. Certificate collected by family.

For Birth Off-Island

For a child born overseas, parents may choose to register the birth in Niue (in addition to the original birth registration) until the child is 2 years of age. This however is an optional process.

  1. The child's parents must take the original birth certificate and the child's passport to the Registry Office.
