Nigeria - Renew Recruiter License


Procedure

Apply In Person:

  1. To Renew Recruiter License, the applicant has to approach the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment – link
  2. An application form will be provided to the applicant by the concerned officer.
  3. The applicant has to fill in all the necessary details in the application form. (Incomplete applications are not accepted)
  4. Make sure that the applicant has attached all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  5. The applicant has to attach photocopies of the required documents along with the application form while submitting it.
  6. Submit all the documents with the completed form to the concerned officer.
  7. The fee for this procedure is mentioned in the “Fees” section of this page.
  8. After receiving the application, the concerned authority will check the submitted application and document set. If all are in place, the application will be accepted.
  9. An acknowledgment receipt will be provided. Please save it for future reference.
  10. Then the application will be processed further. All the updates on the application status will be sent via SMS to the applicant’s mobile number.
  11. Once the process gets completed, the applicant gets a call from the office regarding the application.
  12. If required, the applicant comes for a site inspection.
  13. This entire process can be completed within 30 days or as per the timeline advised by the respective department authority.




Required Documents

  • Application form
  • Photocopy of the receipt for the payment of the sum of N5,000
  • Memo and Articles of Association.
  • A copy of the management profile to ascertain the competence of the management.
  • Bank Guarantee/Insurance bond for some workers recruited.
  • Photocopy of the Certificate of Incorporation.
  • Evidence of Registration with a Pension Fund Administrator
  • Copy of contract letter of appointment for both permanent and recruited staff
  • Copy of contract with the client company
  • Three Copy of the company's Handbook/Conditions of Service (A booklet Form)
  • Evidence of health insurance bond for the number of workers recruited
  • Names, addresses, and telephone numbers of Directors
  • Evidence of registration with NSITF (Employees Compensation)
  • Training Policy for employee/recruited personnel
  • Name(s) of union(s) to which workers belong to.
  • Registration with the Industrial Training Fund(ITF)
  • Evidence of registration with a regulatory body in sectors of focus
  • Expired recruiter license

Need for the Document

  • Companies or Organizations willing to start a recruitment service in Nigeria are required by the Labour Act Cap 198 LFN 1990 (Sections 23, 24, 25 and 71) to apply for registration and obtain the Recruiter's License/Employer's Permit from the Federal Ministry of Labour and Productivity.
  • To continue this service, the applicant has to renew the license before it expired.

Organizations that are licensed by the Federal Ministry of Labour and Productivity to function as Recruiters or Private Employment Agencies. Two categories of recruiters’ licence can be issued:

  • Employment Agencies – They render services for matching offers of employment with suitable applications for employment without becoming a party or directly recruiting the applicants.
  • Labour Contractors – They render services consisting of employing workers to make them available to a third party (whether individual or corporate person) which assigns tasks and supervises the execution of the tasks.
