Apply via Agent
Apply In-Person:
- To apply for a Voters Card in person, the applicant has to visit the nearest polling unit in his/her area of residence.
- The polling units in your area can be located with the help of Polling Unit Locator Tool in the following link: polling unit locator
- Open the link and select your state, Local Government Area and ward with the help of the respective drop-down menus, then click “Search” button.
- Find a nearest polling unit among the list displayed and go to the polling unit with the documents in the “Required documents” section of this page.
- In case if the applicant is about to register to vote for the first time, he/she must approach the relevant authority and present a document as a proof of age, nationality and identity.
- If you have registered already and a Temporary Voting Card holder, you can proceed to present it to the relevant authority and obtain your Voting Card.
- Otherwise, you will have to obtain an Attestation form from the relevant department and complete it with the required details in the respective fields.
- After completing, submit it with along with the required documents to the relevant authority at the Polling unit and also pay the required fees as directed.
- Then, the completed form and corresponding documents will be put into further verification and validation processes.
- Once all the processes got completed, the authorities will make necessary steps for the Voters card issuance process.
- When the card is ready, the office will send a formal notification to the applicant for collecting it by any applicable means.

Eligibility
- Any Nigerian citizen, who is 18 years old or more and wish to vote, can apply.
- The applicant should have an ordinary residence in a ward or a Local Government Area in Nigeria.
- The applicant must not be subject to legal incapacity to vote with respect to the regulations of the INEC.
- The applicant must have already registered in INEC and possess the Temporary Voter Card.

Instructions
- The registering person can also register in the area where he/she is employed or they can also travel to their state of origin to register.
- At a polling unit, a citizen can either register to vote or vote. It is advisable to select a Polling Unit close to your area of residence due to the restricted movement on election days.
- The applicant must visit the Commission by him/herself and collect the Voter Card. No proxy is allowed.
- If you are a registered voter, you should visit the polling unit where you registered as a voter for obtaining the Card.
