Apply In-Person:

1. To get Certificate of Weight(Port Authority) in person, the applicant has to visit the office any of the Pre-shipment Inspection Agencies in Nigeria.
2. Some of the accredited agencies and their contact links can be found in the “Office Locations & Contacts” section of this page.
3. Visit any of the agency’s office and obtain anapplication form for RequestforWeighing from the relevant department.
4. Make sure that you have all the documents mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
5. Complete the application form as required with appropriate details and information. Attest the application form with your signature.
6. Attach the documents with the completed application form.
7. Submit the application form and attached documents to the relevant authority at the office. Pay the applicable fees as directed by the officials.
8. After submission, the technical officers will inspect and weigh the products and goods.
9. Upon approval of the application request, the applicant is informed regarding the approval through phone or email and asked to collect the Certificate through any applicable means.

• It is important that the completed form must contain all the information required properly and the form must be filled legibly, in order to get accepted by the Authority.

• Make sure that you attach all the required documents as specified by the authority to avoid rejections.

• Name of the company
• Country of origin
• Name of the vessel
• Registry port’s name
• Official number and call sign
• International Maritime Organization number and class
• Full Address of the company premises
• Registration Certificate number
• Exporter Registration number
• Company Incorporated year

Certificate of Weight is required during export process of goods and products from Nigeria for confirming whether those products and goods are in compliance with the standards formulated for export process by Federal Government of Nigeria.
