1. You can request for copies of a birth certificate in person at the Registry Office. Make sure that you bring a valid identification in case the registry officer will need to verify your identity.
2. When you submit your request at the Registry Office make sure that you have provided these important details which will make searching for the record easier:
   1. names and surnames
   2. place and date of birth
   3. parents name
3. Pay for the certificate.
4. Your application will be processed immediately, and if the record can be found on the database the certificate may be issued on the same day.

If you are outside Nicaragua

1. You may use the link provided under "Office Locations & Contacts" to get in touch with the nearest Embassy of Nicaragua in the country you are currently staying. Check what documents you will need to bring when you file your request to obtain a copy of a birth certificate and if you will need to set an appointment first before going there.
2. Complete an application form and submit it to the Consular Service Section together with all other required documents.
3. Pay the application fee.
4. The embassy officer will inform you when the certificate will be ready.
